The Challenge

La Pedrera is a boutique hotel and spa in Búzios, one of Brazil’s most popular coastal resort destinations. In a market where travelers compare dozens of properties before booking, La Pedrera needed a digital presence that could compete with both larger hotel chains and OTA listings. But their needs went beyond a standard hotel website.

The property serves multiple distinct audiences: leisure travelers looking for a beach getaway, couples planning honeymoons or destination weddings, corporate groups seeking event venues, and spa guests booking wellness experiences. Each segment has different expectations, different search behavior, and different conversion triggers. La Pedrera needed a web presence that could speak to all of these audiences simultaneously, with dedicated entry points for each segment and a booking engine that kept reservations within their own ecosystem rather than surrendering them to third-party platforms.

Our Approach

Multi-Segment Website Architecture. We designed the site architecture around audience segments rather than property features. The main hotel site served as the hub, with dedicated landing pages branching out to serve specific audiences. Each page was designed with its own visual treatment, messaging, and conversion path optimized for the segment it served.

Main Hotel Website. Built on WordPress with Bootstrap, the main site featured responsive design tested across desktop, tablet, and mobile viewpoints. The design system included a gallery section, promotions module, blog, FAQ section, and a loyalty program page. Every section was built to be editable through WordPress without developer involvement.

Honeymoon and Wedding Landing Page. The “lua-de-mel” (honeymoon) section was built as a standalone experience with its own visual identity, gallery, and inquiry form. This page served as the destination for PPC campaigns targeting couples searching for honeymoon and destination wedding venues in Búzios.

Corporate Events and Spa Landing Pages. Separate landing pages were built for corporate event inquiries and spa bookings, each with targeted messaging, relevant imagery, and direct contact forms. The corporate section included multiple layout variations to accommodate different event types, while the spa page highlighted treatment options and booking availability.

Booking Engine Integration. A booking engine was integrated directly into the main website, allowing guests to check availability and make reservations without being redirected to a third-party platform. This kept the booking experience within La Pedrera’s brand environment and captured guest data directly.

Training and Documentation. We delivered a comprehensive WordPress user manual in 2016, documenting workflows for managing blog entries, gallery updates, promotional offers, background images, and FAQ content. This ensured the hotel team could keep the site fresh and updated during peak seasons without technical support.

The Results

La Pedrera launched with a comprehensive digital presence that served every segment of their business through purpose-built web experiences. The combination of segment-specific landing pages and an integrated booking engine gave the property direct control over its guest acquisition funnel. Key outcomes:

  • Six distinct web experiences designed for specific audience segments
  • Responsive design tested across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
  • Integrated booking engine for direct room reservations
  • PPC-optimized landing pages for honeymoon, wedding, corporate, and spa campaigns
  • WordPress CMS enabling independent content management by hotel staff
  • Comprehensive user manual covering all content management workflows
  • Gallery, promotions, blog, FAQ, and loyalty program modules

What We Learned

La Pedrera demonstrated that hospitality websites are really multi-audience marketing platforms. A hotel that treats its website as a single brochure misses the opportunity to speak directly to each audience segment. The couple searching for a honeymoon venue has completely different intent and expectations than the corporate planner looking for an offsite location — and the landing page experience needs to reflect that.

The booking engine integration was also an important lesson in reducing dependency on OTAs. Every direct booking represents revenue that doesn’t include a third-party commission, and giving guests a seamless on-site booking experience is the most effective way to capture that value. This project shaped how we approach hospitality web development: always segment-first, always with direct booking capability.
