The Challenge

When Ypsilon Digital began working with Am Law Group in 2018, the situation was worse than starting from zero — it was starting from negative. The previous digital marketing agency had been artificially inflating traffic numbers using click farms, generating direct traffic that looked impressive on paper but represented zero real business value. Once that artificial traffic was identified and stripped away, the true organic baseline was minimal.

Am Law Group needed genuine organic visibility for highly competitive immigration law queries. Their target audience includes entrepreneurs looking for E-2 treaty investor visas, high-net-worth individuals exploring EB-5 investor visas, and talented professionals pursuing EB-1 and O-1 extraordinary ability visas. These are people conducting serious research before committing to a law firm — they search for specific visa types, processing times, eligibility requirements, and attorney expertise. Ranking for these queries isn’t just about traffic; it’s about attracting qualified leads who are ready to engage.

The firm also had no CRM infrastructure. Leads that did come in were managed manually with no automated follow-up, no tracking of lead sources, and no way to measure which marketing channels were actually driving consultations.

Our Approach

Technical SEO Audit and Cleanup. The first order of business was a comprehensive technical audit. We identified and fixed issues across the site: missing alt text on images, missing H1 tags, duplicate H2 headings, meta description problems, and URI structure issues. We also addressed the toxic backlink profile left by the previous agency and established a clean foundation for organic growth.

Content Strategy and Publishing. We developed a systematic content strategy focused on the queries Am Law Group’s target clients actually search for. This meant building out authoritative content around E-2 visa to green card pathways, EB-5 investment requirements, O-1 vs H-1B comparisons, and business immigration fundamentals. We published consistently — two articles per month, each optimized for specific keyword clusters — and supplemented written content with YouTube videos that we edited and published on the firm’s channel, later adding transcripts to the site to capture additional search traffic.

Link Building and Off-Site Authority. We implemented a sustained backlink acquisition program, growing the site’s referring domain profile steadily over time. The backlink strategy focused on quality over quantity — building links from relevant legal directories, immigration resources, and authoritative publications. Over the engagement, the site accumulated over 3,000 live backlinks from 83 referring domains.

HubSpot CRM Implementation. We configured HubSpot as Am Law Group’s central CRM, connecting it with lead forms, landing pages, and email workflows. This gave the firm visibility into the complete lead journey — from first website visit through consultation booking — and enabled automated email sequences to keep leads engaged during the research phase.

PPC Campaigns. Alongside the organic program, we created and managed paid campaigns on Google Ads and LinkedIn, driving immediate lead flow while the organic strategy compounded. The paid and organic programs worked in parallel: PPC captured immediate demand while SEO built lasting visibility.

The Results

The transformation is captured in the numbers. From an organic baseline of approximately 240 monthly visits in September 2023 (after the artificial traffic was stripped out and real measurement began), the site grew to over 2,264 organic visits per month at its December 2024 peak — an increase of over 840%. But the traffic growth is only part of the story.

Inbound leads hit record after record. December 2024 set a new high with 74 qualified leads. Then January and February 2025 shattered that record with 125 and 169 leads respectively. These aren’t form spam or bot submissions — they’re real potential clients reaching out about E-2, EB-5, and other visa pathways.

The keyword portfolio tells the authority story. Am Law Group now ranks for over 1,600 organic keywords, with #1 positions for high-value terms including “business immigration law” and “e2 visa to green card processing time”, and top-5 positions for “e2 visa to green card”, “o1 visa vs h1b”, and “business immigration attorney”. The organic traffic value — what it would cost to acquire the same traffic through Google Ads — peaked at nearly $600,000 per month.

What We Learned

The Am Law Group engagement reinforced a principle we’ve seen across every long-term SEO project: genuine organic growth compounds, but it requires patience and consistency. The previous agency’s approach — inflating numbers with click farms — created the illusion of progress but built nothing sustainable. When we stripped away the artificial traffic and started from real baselines, the early months showed modest numbers. It took consistent content publishing, technical optimization, and link building before the compounding effect kicked in.

The other lesson is about the relationship between content and leads in legal services. Immigration law is a field where potential clients do extensive research before making contact. They read multiple articles, watch videos, compare firms. The content we published wasn’t just for SEO — it was the firm’s first impression with potential clients. When someone reads an authoritative article about E-2 visa to green card processing times and then sees Am Law Group ranks #1 for that exact query, the credibility transfer is immediate.

The YouTube integration proved more valuable than we initially expected. Video content served two purposes: it gave potential clients a way to see the attorneys and build trust before making contact, and the transcripts we published on the site created additional pages that ranked for long-tail queries. This dual-use content approach — video for trust, transcripts for SEO — has become a standard recommendation for all our legal services clients.
